Norton SystemWorks Basic Edition (11.0 is the 2008 version) combines several products and tools that help prevent and repair common PC problems. It provides recovery tools for lost data, hardware diagnostics, and tools to keep PCs running at peak efficiency.

Norton SystemWorks Basic Edition includes the following tools and utilities:

• One-Button Checkup runs a customizable system check that finds and fixes problems ranging from fragmented drives to outdated virus definitions to Registry conflicts.
• Norton Utilities optimise the computer for performance, find and fix common computer problems, and remove information in a way that prevents later access.
• Norton Cleanup removes unneeded files, such as temporary files and leftover files from Internet sessions, that can jeopardise privacy, waste disk space, and slow down computer performance.
• System Optimiser allows users to access, control, and prevent changes to Windows settings.
• Process Viewer allows users to see which software processes are running on their system and which ones are affecting its overall performance.
• CheckIt Diagnostics performs a physical examination of the hardware to determine its stability and capability.

The Basic Edition does not protect computers from viruses or spyware; however, it can be used in conjunction with Norton Internet Security or Norton AntiVirus.
